About Modest Idea

What is Modest Idea?

Modest Idea is a pre-launch product discovery tool that helps founders identify which demographic segments experience the problems their products solve. Using 10,000+ synthetic personas grounded in US Census PUMS data and evaluated by a multi-model AI ensemble, it delivers Problem-Solution Fit scores across diverse audiences in about 75 seconds.

The Problem We Solve

Most founders build products based on assumptions about who needs them. Traditional customer discovery is slow, expensive, and prone to confirmation bias. Founders typically interview 10-20 people from their existing network, missing entire demographic segments that might be their best customers. Modest Idea provides a systematic, data-grounded starting point for audience discovery before you spend months on interviews.

How It Works

  1. Describe your product idea, the problem it solves, and your target audience
  2. Our Pitch Doctor AI extracts and confirms the core problem, solution, and target
  3. 200-250 synthetic personas are sampled using IPF-weighted demographic sampling
  4. Each persona is evaluated for problem-solution fit using a multi-model AI ensemble
  5. Personas are clustered into 5-8 demographic segments ranked by PSF score
  6. You receive actionable findings, messaging angles, and recommendations

Our Approach

Every analysis uses three layers of bias mitigation: IPF-weighted sampling ensures demographic representativeness, variable AI temperature prevents herd mentality, and a multi-model ensemble averages out systematic biases. Each persona is enriched with psychological traits using the SAC (Semantic Adjective Control) framework, including Big Five personality dimensions, decision-making style, and behavioral patterns.

Who It's For

Modest Idea is built for solo founders and early-stage teams who are pre-launch or pre-revenue. If you have a product idea but haven't yet validated who needs it, this tool gives you a data-grounded starting point. It's not a replacement for customer interviews — it's a way to focus them on the right people.
